Formula

This formula calculates the midpoint of both the $x$ and $y$ axes individually.

(\frac{x _{1} + x _{2}}{2}, \frac{y _{1} + y _{2}}{2})

Example: Numerical

A = (6, 4) B = (- 8, \frac{3}{2}) (\frac{6 + ( - 8 )}{2}, \frac{4 + \frac{3}{2}}{2}) = (- 1, \frac{11}{4})

Example: Algebraic

A = (3 a, 4 b) B = (7 a, 2 b) (\frac{3 a + 7 a}{2}, \frac{4 b + 2 b}{2}) = (5 a, 3 b)

Example: Surd

A = (32 + 23) B = (- 42, 3) (\frac{3 2 + ( - 4 2 )}{2}, \frac{2 3 + 3}{2}) = (- \frac{2}{2}, \frac{3 3}{2})
