Definite Integration and Limits

Limits can be represented as either [x]ba[x]^a_{b} or bax\int^a_{b}x.

The limits represent both the upper and lower bounds of a definite integral (the interval over which to calculate the value, aka. the range).

i.e.,

01(x131)2dx\int_{0}^1(x^\frac{1}{3} - 1)^2dx

Application

Definite integration can be used to find areas under curves.

This would be done by using a definite integral. However you must split negative/positive sections and ensure that they are positive.
