Party Systems

Type	Definition
Dominant-party system	Where a number of parties exist but only one holds government power generally.
Multiparty system	Where many parties compete for power and the government consists of a series of coalition.
Single-party system	Where one party dominates, bans other parties and exercises total control over candidacy.
Two-party system	Where two equally matched parties compete for power at an election; where only two parties are likely to form a government.
