- The Poll Tax - the Poll Tax (aka. “community charge”, Duke and dustman example) was a policy by Margaret Thatcher was intended to replace the pre-existing housing tax based upon size with a flat fee for everyone. This policy was unsupported by the cabinet, MPs, and public. It was heavily biased since it benefited the rich, harmed the poor. It led to 3 of Margaret Thatcher’s cabinet members resigning, and ultimately her downfall.
- The Iraq War - the Iraq War was a war alongside America in which they invaded Iraq under the guides of WMDs (Weapons of Mass Destruction). The evidence was very weak and the MI5/6 were swayed in their writing due to political pressure. Tony Blair’s decision was unsupported by the cabinet - esp. since they were not informed in decision making and usually lagged behind, and the public did not support it as shown by massive protests (1m+). However, he was re-elected after making this decision. SOFA GOVERNMENT
- The 2017 Snap Election - the 2017 Snap Election was called since Theresa May was unable to pass any of her Brexit deals through Parliament, and was done in hopes of gaining MPs to have a better chance at passing her deal. This worked inversely and lost her MPs, making it effectively impossible to pass any deal. This led to her downfall. DEMONSTRATION OF WEAK PM
