The Human RightsEnshrined most provisions from the European Convention (a European treaty created after WWII - unrelated to the European Union) on human rights.
Established the European Court of Human Rights - located in the Hague.
Allows British citizens to sue the government under any UK court for violating their human rights, rather than just the Hague. This made holding the government accountable much cheaper (don’t need to travel far, don’t need a specialist legal team), realistic, and convenient.
Requires the government to ensure that legislation is compatible with the convention.
