Types of Lines

Thursday, 18 June 2026

y=2y = 2 is a constant, it is the same as y=2x0y = 2x^0. y=x+2y = x + 2 is linear. y=x2+2x4y = x^2 + 2x - 4 is quadratic.

The gradient of a linear line can be calculated by doing ΔyΔx\frac{\Delta y}{\Delta x}.

Note

Factorisation is used to separate multipliers (like-terms).
