See Binomial Expansion.

(a+b)2=a2+2ab+b2(a + b)^2 = a^2 + 2ab + b^2

Example

  1. Square the first term: (3x)2=9x2(3x)^2 = 9x^2
  2. Double the product of both: Multiply 3x3x and 1010 together to get 30x30x, then double it: 230x=60x2 \cdot 30x = 60x
  3. Square the last term: 102=10010^2 = 100

\dots = $9x^2+60x+100
